Rev. Barry Keating



Pastor

Born in 1952, Rev. Keating grew up in Protestant East Belfast, but while in High School got involved in the Corrymeela Reconciliation Community.  He studied at Queens University, Belfast, and after graduating in 1974, briefly played professional soccer in England.  He studied Theology and was ordained a Presbyterian Minister in 1980, initially ministering at Lisburn Presbyterian Church outside Belfast.  Much of his career has been spent as a Chaplain in hospitals and prisons, including for a while as Chaplain at the Maze Prison (Long Kesh) where those charged with terrorism-related offenses were incarcerated.  Besides ministering in Edmonds, he also serves on the Presbyterian Church (USA) Northern Ireland Committee and the Board of Seattle's Irish Heritage Club. He is married to Nancy and they have one daughter, Shea.



Tania Cook


 
Youth Director

Tania Cook has been the Youth Director since the beginning of 2010.  Tania's true passion lies in working with our Youth.  She has 2 sons, Shane (19) and Ethan (12), and a step-daughter Chloe (20).

 
 
Nancy Rasmussen


 
Preschool Teacher

Nancy Rasmussen has 15 years' experience teaching preschool, with 11 of them at Maplewood.  A graduate of WSU in Early Childhood Education, she loves teaching preschool.  She is a member of Maplewood Presbyterian Church and the mother of two great kids.





 
 
Barbara St. John


 
Preschool Teacher and 
Custodian

Barbara St. John has been working with children and active in Maplewood for over 25 years.  She first worked as the Director of the Maplewood Daycare and now as Director of Maplewood Preschool.  Barbara has an Early Childhood Certificate from Edmonds Community College.  She is a mother to 5 and a grandmother to 5 wonderful grandchildren.





 
 
Stephen Eddy


 
Interim Music Director

Stephen Eddy was born and raised in Maplewood's family.  He owns a BA in Music from Western Washington University, and has served as the church's Music Director off and on since 2004, leading a choir that includes his parents, Buz and Sharon.  Stephen also serves as an Elder; he is Maplewood's Session Moderator of Worship, works with the Pastor and Worship Coordinator to provide meaningful worship and concert experiences, and is responsible for recruiting volunteers to serve in the several capacities needed in the course of the worship service.
 

 
Julie Parsons


 
Worship Coordinator
 
Julie Parsons has been serving MPC since 2007, first as its Music Director, and most recently as its Worship Coordinator.  She has enjoyed her work in designing meaningful worship experiences for congregations and is grateful to be able to continue her work here at MPC.  She is currently working on her DMA degree in choral conducting at the University of Washington.  She is married to Andrew and welcomes her first child in February.
   
Angie Anderson
 
Sunday School Superintendent

Angie Anderson
lives in Woodinville, but was born and raised in Seatltle, Washington.  She is married to a marvelous man, Joel, and have two wonderful young men C.J. 21 and Dylan almost 16.  She has officially been a family together for ten years, and loves being a mom. 

Angie has worked for the Northshore School District as a Teacher's Aide and as a Recess Teacher for the past seven years, and has served as Maplewood's Sunday School Superintendent since 2010. The experience she has with children in her job and as a mother is what helped her decide to do Sunday School.  She loves being superintendent but also loves teaching and interacting with our wonderful children.
 
 
Beverly Moore


 
Accompanist

Beverly Moore has been working for Maplewood since 2000.  From her earliest years when traditional piano study began she discovered that she could also play and create music intuitively – without need of a score.  She uses these improvisational skills weekly at Maplewood, providing creative service music for our worship services.  She holds BA/BM and MA degrees from the University of Washington.
